The glory of a 1 day primary
Why would one call our government a socialist government? First lets look at the most important principal of democracy that makes democracy separate from other government. The constitution states that democracy is fair, balance, above all else equal….Equality of stature and opportunity for all citizens. Why do I bring this up, well the primaries and dollars that are involved limits if not changes our government into a socialist government. First, the process of the primary is to exclude people from running for president, and the money that is involved enforces that discipline. The money aside, which is altogether the same issue in a different package, in today world advertising is the tool of getting out the vote or putting down the vote. We all know that the power heads of the party get together and the money people gets together a year or two before the primary starts and decides who they want. If they agree they have one candidate, if they don’t, then you have more, but at this point the American people have no say so, right or wrong, but debatable. Then they go about packaging the candidates.
Then they engineer the primary, if they agree it’s a quick compact schedule, if they don’t they drag it out. Either case the American people lose here because their vote is actually worth less than the next guy and there by goes against the American Constitution and the principals of democracy. Pretty bold statement but let’s analyze three different voters. The First voter, Super Tuesday voter, and the last voter and the possible outcomes of there vote.
The first voter. He gets to vote. That is one vote. He decides for lets say candidate a, b, or c, etc. which in this case is worth 2/3 of a vote. Plus he gets to vote………America….the fact that he gets to vote. So, all together his vote is worth 2 2/3rd of a vote.
The Super Tuesday voter. This vote is designed to settle all open wounds, and to begin the month’s long rally with luck and march to the white house. First they get to vote.(1 vote) however some have dropped out by this time. So, they only choose between two candidates. (1/2 vote). Plus he gets to vote for America by participating rather it is a caucus or primary vote (1 vote) All together it’s worth 2 ½ votes.
Finally the last vote. Which is almost never happens. But never the less he does get to participate and finally get to vote in the national election. But the last vote, knows that his vote when he votes does not represent a candidate but a delegate, and if it goes to the last vote, then there is only a 50/50 chance that the delegate will do what his vote dictated. If you don’t look at the last time the last vote was needed. So in the best case scenario which almost never happens is vote is worth on 2 votes at best. 1 for participating, ½ for choosing between the two, and ½ for the 50% chance his vote will count.
More than likely it will only equal only one vote for participating. He will not get to vote and he will no get the ½ for choosing.
So, in America, A vote is worth 2 2/3rd a vote, or 2 ½ vote, or something less than 2 depending on where you live. Not fair, not balance, surely not equal. And that does not even take in account of money.
Finally if the American people are not really deciding the vote then what do we have. Its not democracy. Maybe not Socialism, but its sure closer to it.
