Maryland has voted to get rid of their electoral college. em ....I thought it was a decision for the people, not a mis-fit of state congressment looking out for their greedy pockets.

But lets look at the argument:

Without the electoral college Al Gore would have been president. True, as scary as that is, to me, it absolutely true. But what does it ignore. Well let me restate the sentence in factual terms.

Without the electoral college we would have New York, and California telling us who is our president. The two imrigrant states. Not that I have anything against those two states, but lets face it: the majority of their population are new imigrant generations of people coming from mostly centralized governments, dictators, and socialist government, or simply conrupt governments. The one thing that area of the population is looking for is security from the government, would be more happy with a socialist government vs. a democratic government, and have the tendacy to vote that way. Simply put they want more government where most of the population between those two states want more independence.
We want a country free of paper work, government regulation that restrict us as citizens, and government oversight of our individual lives.
So let me put it another way.
Without the electoral college each state loses its independence, each citizens lose their independence, which invites only two possible outcomes: Orwellian type of society, or a roadmap to a civil war. I do not think it would be hard to see that the central states revolting from a Loading dock states dominated government. As for the flip side: some would argue we are already a puppit type of society. I know the republicans and democrats think the middle class is a puppit on their strings just waiting to be manipulated. An according the voting trends of the last thirty years...ugh..I see why they think so. So finally a citizen must see that the electoral college is just a knot in the republican and democrat string.
